Think on the good things of God.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Someone read this out in church today and it really spoke to me, particularly the part that I have highlighted.

When I'm feeling depressed or struggling there are two main places I read in the Bible...Philippians and the Psalms, and it *always* helps. :o)

There's something about reading the scriptures that brings real comfort. I love the Psalms too because the author speaks honestly of their struggles but they always give God the glory. :)

Wow! What a blast. Last summer, our previous pastor preached a summer series on Philippians 4:8. I had decided at the beginning of the summer before he started the series that we would memorize the entire segment you shared. I wanted to help the girls understand that what goes in is what comes out. I am usually, one-hundred percent positive they didn't get it. ;)

Pastor Randy's series was good and it was neat for me to watch the girls listen to a series of sermons on a verse we had memorized together.

Wow, that's quite a big chunk of scripture for them to memorise! I'm impressed. :)

I bet learning the scripture first really brought the sermon to life.
