I saw this at Pamela's blog and it looked like fun, it's called Tuesday 4: Holiday Specials begun by Toni Taddeo and kept in her memory, here are my answers:
1. Do you have a favourite Christmas carol and if so is there a particular version you especially like?
O Holy Night. I don't have a particular favourite version but it's such an atmospheric song, it really lifts my spirits. I also like Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
2. Do you have a special dinner for the holidays? What foods are included?
We have a meal on Christmas Day with the girls and my mum and dad. We have turkey, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, Brussels sprouts, roast parsnips, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Yorkshire puddings*, gravy, and pigs in blankets. We follow this with Christmas pudding with a brandy flame. This year our youngest daughter would like a vegan/vegetarian option, so we'll look into that.
*Yorkshire puddings are not a sweet but are a something eaten with a roast dinner, usually roast beef but we love them so much Christmas dinner wouldn't be the same without them haha
3. Holiday movies ... which do you like to watch?
Ooh. We start off the season with Die Hard and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. We also love to watch Christmas with the Kranks, Nightmare Before Christmas, Home Alone, Polar Express (except G hates this film lol, but me and the girls love it) and we have added Red One as a favourite too. I quite like Deck the Halls. I recently watched The Holdovers and Last Christmas - I totally recommend, really, really great films!
4. What traditions do you continue to keep year after year for the holidays?
We always start the season with Die Hard (definitely a Christmas film!) and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I go to Candlelit Carols with my dad (and my mum when she was well), which is a very traditional service with a choir on the 21st December. We have a night in the week where we visit a local street that decorate their hours with soooo many lights and outdoor decorations. It's so pretty and there are QR codes posted on the street where you can donate to a local hospice after visiting the lights. We open presents on Christmas Day as a family first thing while we have breakfast. Then when my mum and dad come we open presents with them after lunch.

OH, Sarah, I am so glad you joined in the fun this time! We do this every Tuesday, so please keep checking in! I enjoyed your answers and traditions, and I know you live in the UK, so I was a bit surprised that you like so many "American" movies, but I guess they are pretty universal! I've heard that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, but I guess I'd have to watch it again to figure that out...it's been a while since I've seen it. Your menu sounds delightful and so "Dickenish", like from A Christmas Carol. I hope you and yours have a delightful and blessed Christmas!!
I like your holiday celebrations. I try to take in one or two special events, usually concerts or plays with the Christmas message and songs. But this year I did not make it and the 'season' is booked. Hopefully next year. Enjoy your Christmas and your movies.
Our holiday meal menu is similar to yours! I am happy you joined in , thank you! I hope your Christmas is wonderful , merry and bright!
Thanks Pamela I really enjoyed joining in :) I think most big Christmas films are American. Love Actually and Nativity I guess are British based, but they're just not my favourite. Last Christmas that I mentioned is a British film, I really enjoyed that. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas too x
Thanks Joyful, things get so busy so quickly around Christmas! I hope you have a great Christmas too x
Hi Annie, good food maketh the Christmas haha, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas too x
O Holy Night is beautiful. My favorite too. Your traditions sound like so much fun. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

National Lampoon is a funny one for sure. I put O Holy Night on. I love that song and just read the history about the song. Nice to see you join this. I hope to see you at my blog. :)
Your Christmas dinner reminds me of my childhood ones but then my grandparents, whom we lived with, were only a generation or maybe two removed from the British settlers and still followed the traditions of the "old country". I enjoyed your post, thanks for sharing :)
Hello Sarah, lovely to read your blog, we don't have a favourite film, but recently watched Last Christmas on a wet Sunday afternoon. We'd seen it before but had forgotten and we loved it and if I had to chose it would be that one,, and favourite carol is more a Christmas song, 'Mary Did You Know' If you don't know it look it up on you tube its lovely.
Hi Lori, it's such a beautiful carol. Have a lovely week too
Hi Susan, I must look up the history of the carol, I love a bit of history! haha
Hi Doodles n daydreams, I think many people in the UK still have some version of a turkey Christmas dinner on Christmas day. Thanks for visiting! :)
Hi Chris, I do know Mary Did You Know, it's a beautiful song. Last Christmas is such a good film. Thanks for visiting :)
Yorkshire Puddings, something I'm not familiar with although I have heard of it before. I must read up on it because I love trying new things. Enjoyed visiting with you today and hope you're enjoying a wonderful Thursday.
I really enjoyed reading about your traditions. We usually have a ham dinner, but this year we're really switching it up and having lasagna. I've heard a lot about Yorkshire pudding but have never tried it. I should look for a recipe.
Thanks for the movie recommendations. We discovered Red One last year and really liked it. We love Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life.
Hi Mary, if you do try Yorkshire puddings have them with sausages, mashed potatoes and gravy, or a roast dinner with gravy. Enjoy! :)
Hi Mari, if you do try Yorkshire puddings, I hope you like them. See my comment to Mary for suggestions :) Red One is such a fun film. x
Merry and Blessed Christmas, my new friend! Enjoy!
Merry Christmas to you too!
Makes me remember the speacial meals at my Aunty.
