Catch up

Well it's been a while! I had all good intentions for posting regularly, but we've had a bunch of family illness and then issues at work, so my mind has been elsewhere for a while.

I left my job in December (they were making redundancies and had cut my hours down to 12 a week - it was a complicated situation) and since then have been helping care for mum and supporting dad.

So other than those jolly happenings, looking back on what I've been up to:

G and I took a visit to Cardiff in Wales last week, he needed to go for work so I went along for the ride. We had a lovely time, the weather was gorgeous. We met up with a couple of friends while we were there, which was good for me as, at the moment, it can be a little isolating during the day.

Look at those skies! It was bloomin freezing though!

Marina in Cardiff

Coco is settling more and more 💖 the 29th February will mark 1 year since we adopted her from the Blue Cross. She is such a fluffy cute girl.

I've been trying to walk more and generally exercise more, oh and eat healthier. We're lucky to live near beautiful countryside.

Love this tree - it's an oak tree. I must admit I say hello, and occasionally a hug, as I walk past.

We had some lovely snow in January and me, B & L threw a few snowballs, made snow angels and generally had fun.

Christmas was fun and relaxing. Just us and close family.

We had a holiday in the Lake District in September. The cottage we stayed in had beautiful views with just a tiny glimpse of Windermere.

We had some lovely walks around the area and a trip on one of the the Windermere cruises.

Anyway, I could ramble on forever!

Have a lovely day!

Local air show

We really enjoyed our day together at a local seaside air show.

Such fun!

It rained a little but stayed dry enough.  Sadly the fly-by by the Battle of Britain vintage aircraft had to be cancelled due to bad weather at the airfield they were setting off from.

The Red Arrows were as amazing as ever!

My poor dad

The arrow won't wash off! Haha
Well my dad finished his radiotherapy on Friday! Whoop! But on Saturday morning he cut his finger badly, spent all morning at Urgent Care and was been referred to a Plastic Surgeon Monday morning, for possible nerve damage!

My poor dad! The hospital confirmed that he had severed the nerve, it was an exhausting day as they were so busy and Dad had to wait and wait.

Apparently the nurses applauded when dad finally went off to theatre lol they felt so sorry for him. Dad said they were so lovely and kind to him, plying him with tea and biscuits all day.

Praying that it heals up quick.  He will have to have physio to prevent it stiffening up as the nerves regenerate themselves gradually.

My dad

My dad is having an operation today for an aggressive cancer.  So we are praying that it goes well.  I love him so much.

Hubs is driving him there this morning.

He will then have intensive radiotherapy for a couple of weeks.  So he will probably be very tired.

**the op went well, praise God**

Segways

A friend of ours gave us some tickets for the girls to have LOTS of fun learning how to ride Segways at Tatton Park.

They had so much fun and it is such a beautiful setting.

So proud!

Our beautiful B has done absolutely fantastic in her GCSEs.  We are so unbelievably proud of her!

So we had to go out and celebrate with a lovely meal together.

Happy birthday Miss B

My beautiful girl is 16 today.

I can't believe it! She's growing up way too fast for me, it only seems like yesterday that she was a baby in arms.

She's fascinated by astro-physics and so we surprised her with a very special present.

I think she might be pleased! haha

Pics from our holiday in North Yorkshire

L is a cow whisperer, they were fascinated by her, haha
The cottage we stayed in was lovely, and surrounded by farmland, but the furnishings were not very practical...no wardrobes and very little drawer space!

Filey beach - the North sea is a little chilly for me!

A mysterious fire at Yorkshire airfield, not on the airfield.  We were all fascinated.  I think it was a pile of tyres that had caught alight.

Friday the 13th - Halifax bomber

Some info about this bomber, if you're interested: Friday 13th

View from the top of York Cathedral
It was quite a climb to the roof of one of the towers of York Cathedral.  I found it quite claustrophobic climbing the seemingly endless spiral staircase to the top.

Cat heaven

We visited a local animal sanctuary today.  We love to visit the dogs, cats, guinea pigs, goats, donkeys and other animals.

My favourite place was the building that houses the older cats.

It's like cat-lovers' heaven.

Grandma

We planted a tree for life with Grandma's ashes today.  It was an emotional (and slightly stressful - but that's another story) day.

It's a beautiful spot, near a reservoir.  There are lots of other 'trees for life' trees planted nearby.  So peaceful.

Just lovely to think that we have a beautiful tree to remember her by and that tree will be producing life-giving oxygen.

Lovely day out

Had a brilliant day out with the girls and my mum and dad at Turton Tower.

It's a fascinating old house and 13th century tower with 17th and 19th century additions.

The tour guide was brilliant.

We also had a lovely lunch in the tea room.

AND it was only £6 for adults to go around the house and free for the kids! Bargain!

Flooding near grandma's

There's been very heavy rain near my grandma's flat.  Fortunately she is safe in a respite home.  We had to drive the long way around to her house as we made two separate attempts which were blocked due to flooding.

Finally we got to her flat and managed to move all her furniture and precious items up high enough so that any flooding doesn't damage them.

Family walk

We had a lovely family walk around a local reservoir today.

God's creation is just beautiful!
