It was a happy Tuesday

Yesterday one of my best friends from childhood was over visiting.  She moved to New Zealand quite a few years ago and it was just lovely to catch up with her.

She's staying at her mum's which is over in the next village, and it's quite a pleasant walk from our house.  Because it was such a lovely morning we decided to walk over and meet her half-way.

It was such a beautiful, crisp day.

Fun day and girly evening in...ish

We had a good day yesterday.  I didn't get as much housework done as I wanted to, but I did scrub and shine the shower cubicle, which makes me happy.  However, there the housework stopped because the girls and I had lots of very deep conversations about the world, the universe and everything and we got rather distracted.  B was revising her Religious Studies A Level philosophy work and that sparked a few conversations too.

Plato - thinks that he must be because he is thinking...😜
We then decided we would test ourselves on how many countries in the world we could place on a blank map...just because haha.

Before I knew it, it was 3pm and B was panicking because she was supposed to be meeting a friend, so I dropped her off there, then when I got home I did a quick tidy round and then it was time to take L out to meet some new friends she has made.  It was a birthday meal for one of these new friends.  It warms my heart to see her happy and out with friends.

When I came home from dropping L off at the restaurant and picking B up from a local coffee shop, Hubs had got home from work and was waiting for a friend to pick him up because he too was going out for a meal!

So me and B were home alone.  It was therefore necessary that we did something fun, so B decided that she wanted to make pancakes, we would put our onesies (all in one fluffy pyjamas) on, and we would watch Dumplin' on Netflix.

Dumplin' is a really sweet film about a girl who is very close to her aunt but not very close to her mother who is an ex-beauty pageant queen and who runs the local pageant every year with great passion.  Willowdean (Dumplin') feels she doesn't measure up to her mother's (or anyone's) ideal of a beauty queen and decides to sign up for the pageant as a kind of protest.  I won't say anymore, in case you want to watch it, but it's definitely a heartwarmer-type film.

B making pancakes, apparently this is what she is going to eat for breakfast all the time at university

It's good to spend time with the girls, I love them so much and can't believe how quickly they are growing up!

When hubs got home we had a good natter and then settled down to watch Salvation on Netflix.  We're on Season 2 and apparently it ends on a cliffhanger and they aren't doing another season! *sigh*

Bootsy enjoying Salvation

Have a lovely weekend!

Sunset walk

Got my gorgeous girls to come out for a walk in the early evening.

Just beautiful out there.

Getting out into the fresh air and into nature really lifts my spirit.

Local air show

We really enjoyed our day together at a local seaside air show.

Such fun!

It rained a little but stayed dry enough.  Sadly the fly-by by the Battle of Britain vintage aircraft had to be cancelled due to bad weather at the airfield they were setting off from.

The Red Arrows were as amazing as ever!

Westward Ho!

Westward Ho! beach on 'dramatic' setting on my camera.

The girls love the sea, and I do too.

Juggling L

L has been doing British Gymnastics certificates in trampolining.

She's getting really good.

I took this photo and I think it looks like she is being juggled! Haha. Bless her.

Arty

For her art lesson, B had to draw and shade a skull.

I think she has done a very good job.

I'm so proud of her xx

Segways

A friend of ours gave us some tickets for the girls to have LOTS of fun learning how to ride Segways at Tatton Park.

They had so much fun and it is such a beautiful setting.

So proud!

Our beautiful B has done absolutely fantastic in her GCSEs.  We are so unbelievably proud of her!

So we had to go out and celebrate with a lovely meal together.

Happy birthday Miss B

My beautiful girl is 16 today.

I can't believe it! She's growing up way too fast for me, it only seems like yesterday that she was a baby in arms.

She's fascinated by astro-physics and so we surprised her with a very special present.

I think she might be pleased! haha

Deep and meaningful conversations with my children

So, the girls and I have just read through chapter 10 of 1 Corinthians, during which I expounded with great wisdom the meaning of the scriptures. Afterwards there was a ponderous silence, then L said thoughtfully, "Mummy? I have a question"

"Yes darling," I said, knowing deep in my spirit she had been moved in a momentous way.

"When we are in heaven, do you think we'll be able to make our own eyeballs fall out?"

Hahahahahaha, children, they certainly keep you grounded!!

Life changing revelations!

So I knew B was about to read a chapter of Luke's Gospel, I'm upstairs doing some work while she does, and then she comes running.

"I've had a revelation! It's life changing!"

So I get internally excited that she's had some kind of spiritual epiphany.

"Yes! I've just discovered that your foot is the same length as your arm between your elbow and your wrist!!"

Haha, kids, they keep you on planet earth.

I'm not cool..

L to me: "They're not called emoticons!! They're called emojis".

Then quietly and sadly: "You're not cool".

03 February 2016

I love her

B: "Oh my gosh, the 2016 Olympics! Is that this year?"

Me: [sarcastically] "No, it's next year."

[Long silence] B: "Oh....hahahahahaha"

How my child's brain works...

How my child's brain works. #1

*L is cleaning her teeth in her bedroom*

Me: I told you this morning not to clean your teeth in your bedroom, you should do it in the bathroom!

L: I'm not cleaning my teeth in my bedroom, I was cleaning my teeth in the bathroom and I came upstairs.

A lovely time with the girls

L looks like The Fly on our shopping trip, hahaha

Later, I went on a lovely evening walk with B.

Out and about again

We love our walks out and about.  I popped out with my gorgeous Chatterbox in the beautiful countryside that surrounds us.

We are truly blessed.
